THE INSPIRATION
Perry James enjoys all aspects of fine art photography - especially landscape. He can be found shooting at the crack of dawn, in the middle of the night or during that “magic hour” in the afternoon in an attempt to capture that moment when the light, the tones, the shapes and the shadows are just right. “In my color landscapes” says James “I am not trying to document the scene, but to bring out its essence! It is more about the feeling and less about the detail, that I am trying to convey to the viewer.” “I like the motion of landscapes.” explains Perry. “There are times when I will set the camera on a tripod and let the movement and color do what nature intended. And other times I will move the camera slightly attaining a softer, abstract, painterly effect. This image is a mix between a photograph and a watercolor painting. I’ll often take multiple shots, from all angels and vantage points. Sometimes I combine several images together, playing with the saturation or softening the colors of the composition, finally cropping and sizing the image in order to achieve the vision in my mind’s eye.”
